Yesterday, the local progressive talk radio station (1350 AM if you're near Akron or Canton) brought in a gift for us. The Bill Press Show was broadcasting live from Mike's Place in Kent, so I decided to make the trip up and see the show.
Having spent 16 years in radio and a handful of years in politics, this was the perfect mix of my two career passions, so I was clearly excited to be there. (Long story about a flat tire deleted), I arrived at Mike's Place at about 715am, the show having kicked off at 6am.
The room was packed and it was a wonderful time. Bill Press and his co-host Christy Harvey did not disappoint. Special guests for the show were Congressman Tim Ryan and Paul Schrader, the Cleveland man who has denounced the war in Iraq...his son was killed in Iraq a few months ago.
Anyway, I just wanted to express how much fun it was, and how incredible Bill Press and Christy Harvey are. A pair of amazing personalities, both with extensive political histories (Bill is best known from CNN's Crossfire, and Christy's claim to fame is her position at the Center For American Progress).
I was fortunate enough to spend a few minutes talking with both of them during and after the show and I look forward to seeing them again soon. Christy offered a little advice and offered support for my campaign strategy on homelessness (she said it was gimmicky, but if done right, it had a Morgan Spurlock-feel to it) Basically, she made me a Christy Harvey fan for life. If I wasn't doing this whole running-for-office thing, I'd probably lobby to work for her at the CfAP...she was that cool.
So, tune in from 6am to 9am every morning if you're in the neighborhood. Heck, tune in the whole day....Radio Free Ohio does have a great lineup.

Hey Jeff, is it true that Christy Harvey is really really cute?
A friend of mine was at Mike's Place and won't stop talking about her.
