Scanning the internets this morning, I came across an amazing idea that was cross-posted at a lot of the popular lefty blogs....so I decided to talk about it here!
Peacenik23 has proposed that a blog is created and run for EVERY Congressional race in 2006, and is looking to spearhead this initiative. Peacenik is starting by asking if a blog exists in your district. I made sure that mine was included in the list.
From Peacenik23s diary on Daily Kos
Ever since the race in OH-2 I've been mulling over the possibility of starting my own blog to follow my local race. During the special election Blog.oh2.com and SwingStateProject allowed me to see what was going on in the district and feel like part of the action.
So, today I took the leap and made my own blog. It's totally simple but functional - i think. As I'm currently out of the district and away at school I'm also going to try and get some other people to post from within the district.

Tell me what you think. What should it have? A map of the district? What would you like to see?
And here's my challenge. Let's have a blog for EVERY single congressional race in 2006.
Several people go on to respond and offer help. Peacenik does the same at MyDD, and is mentioned at SwingStateProject. This is an idea that will propbably spread fast (hell, it had BETTER spread).
So expect this blog to begin to thrive, and expect to see more just like it from other Congressional candidates. Just accept it, blogging is the new wave of running campaigns.

That exact post has inspired me to start a blog this morning for OH-12 at http://www.oh-12.us/ (imagine that!)
With the large focus on national politics online, perhaps running my own on state/local politics will a) help me get a better handle on what's happening locally, and b) help others do the same.
Good luck on your campaign, Jeff. Maybe some day I'll feel up to the challenge of running for office, be it municipal or higher.

That is wonderful news, Brian. Good for you!
I spent years as a political activist before I took on the challenge of campaigning for an elected office. Any issue that was in my heart, I spoke up about....small steps led me to running for office, and if you have dreams of doing the same, I will be there to encourage you!
Thanks again,
