So yesterday I got a letter to the editor published in the Canton Repository. Basically, it was in response a nutjob who spins so hard that people throw their laundry at her whenever she gets in a swimming pool (think about it long enough, you'll understand). This ought to make the righties crazy...pointing out how they let bin Laden get away really pisses them off (which, for the record, he's been free for 1,376 consecutive days since Bush said he'd git 'im).

Regarding the letter “Giving up is not an option in America’s wars” (July 10): What if, during the American Revolution, Gen. George Washington said, “Sorry, everyone. I’m no longer interested in fighting the British.
Let’s go invade Mexico because they have muskets of mass destruction,” and then diverted all the attention away from defeating the Redcoats.
What if, in the dark days of the Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln declared that he didn’t think the South was all that important and declared, “Some of those Western states may have been aiding and abetting the South, so we’ll go invade the Utah territory.”
What if, during World War II, President Roosevelt decided to pull hundreds of thousands of troops who were trying to stop Adolf Hitler and instead sent them to battle in Tanzania? What if Roosevelt had saturated the radio and TV with reports that Tanzania was the “real front in the war against the Nazis” and decided that Hitler “wasn’t really that important”?
None of these situations occurred, but one similar instance has happened in today’s America.
Yes, we were attacked on 9/11. Yes, it changed everything. But in the middle of the hunt for the man who did attack us, our president lied about WMD and claimed we were in severe danger of being attacked at any minute.
The mastermind of 3,000 murders has been let off the hook. Seventeen hundred more are dead. Our troops deserve better. Bring them home to their loving families now, and spend the money on securing our cities, our coastlines and our borders.
The British were defeated in the late 18th century. The South surrendered in 1865. Hitler and the Nazis were smashed in 1945.
Osama bin Laden still runs free, and as President Bush said on March 13, 2002, “I truly am not that concerned about him.”
We know, Mr. President. We know.

I'm sure the 101st Division of the Fighting Keyboardists were hard at work defending their little war over that letter.
Rock on, Jeff! Well said.
